Jack Black (Tenacious D, Shallow Hal) stars as a member of a struggling rock band but his on stage antics soon get him thrown out. What's more his flatmate's girlfriend is on his back for the rent. In desperation he takes a job as a subsititute teacher pretending to be his flatmate.
Realising that these kids have talent, he devises a plan to turn them into the newest rock band but will their parents who pay $15,000 a year to get them there be happy?
The film sheds some good light on rock music but also glosses over the other aspects of the genre which Black's musical career show in abundance. Despite that, though, it was a very enjoyable film, with great music throughout it will certainly do for rock what Sister Act did for pop.
