The supposed remake of what I would have called "The 'MINI' Movie" is here. The Italian job was the movie which saw Michael Caine go down in history for those imortal lines involving some car doors and what they were supposed to do with them. It also involved some pretty snazzy chase scenes involving the mini in an Italian Gold heist.
In this "reworking" (which is a far better way of describing it) the gold heist is carried out in Venice very near to the start of the film, however there is a traitor in the ranks and he sets them up, taking all the gold for himself. A year later the remaining group, joined by the daughter of the one member who didn't make it out alive, find him and concieve of a new plan to get the gold back.
Although the film does have moments of hilarious comedy and a lot of action, it does lack something of the original. However it takes it in enough of a new direction to avoid being just another remake, something which it's fans would have no doubt hated. However, the ending has much to be desired since it just ends very quickly, though I should note that the original also did so. Not a bad film, but unless you love minis you may wish to see something else given the option.
