Leonardo DiCaprio plays a charming prankster in this movie which is apparently a true story. His character runs away from home at the age of 14 and attempts to cash his cheques only to find that he has no money in the account. He quickly devizes a plan which will make him rich beyond his wildest dreams. He works out that if he dresses as an airline pilot they will cash his cheques without checking the balance. Then he realises that pay cheques have a higher limit and starts cashing those instead.
Soon he is living the high life but when the FBI start chasing him he decides its time to change careers and personalities. He almost gets caught but escapes ingeniously playing off the fact that the FBI man (Tom Hanks) doesn't know what he looks like. His downfall, like that of most men is a woman. It's a genuinely good story and like most "true stories" is quite slow yet strangely gripping. Not being a fan of Leonardo's I went in dubiously but it is possibly his best works yet. Worth a peek I believe.
