The most eagerly anticipated film of the summer, The Matrix Reloaded, is finally here. The Matrix was one of the biggest hit films of the 1990s and changed cinema forever. The effects used within it and the entertaining science fiction action made it so good that almost every DVD collection has a copy. The Matrix Reloaded had a lot to live up to.

Neo, Trinity and Morpheous return to The Virtual Prison that is the Matrix to visit the mystical Oracle, whom prophesied the coming of The One but things are not that simple. Agent Smith, who Neo destroyed, is back with some dangerous new powers and even Neo's calling seems at times to be less than the advantage they'd hoped it would be. With an attack upon Zion by sentinals imminent, can the rebels end the war before it's too late? Or would they rather have a big disco.

The Agents seem to be the last thing they need to worry about since there are all kinds of other programmes intent on destroying them all including many more primitive ones like Vampires and Ghosts.

My only criticisms of this film are a few less "family viewing" scenes in Zion and a few of the stunts looking quite obviously computer generated. You'd think that after spending a few billion dollars on a film they could iron out all of the bugs. Wouldn't you.

None the less, this was far better than most films and sets a solid grounding for the third in the Trology, "Revolutions", which is due for release in November.
