Reese Weatherspoon (Cruel Intentions, The Faculty) plays Elle, a bright yet incredibly blonde American student. When the film starts we find Elle expecting to get engaged but when he dumps her saying that she just isn’t the right person for his career she drops everything to get him back. She manages to get into Harvard Law school by swatting for her LSATs and by producing an outstanding entrant video essay which gets all the examiners in a sweat.
Unfortunately after all this effort, her ex-boyfriend has found himself a rich prestigious girlfriend and still treats her like dirt. As the story progresses, she learns more about herself and becomes a competent lawyer but remaining faithful to her roots and her intuitions. If I have just made this sound dull then I’m telling it all wrong. In this story which is Clueless meets any legal film, there is a laugh a minute. I don’t want to spoil the film for you so I won’t tell you any more about the storyline. Reese plays the part well and her supporting actors also make it very convincing. Worth a peek.
