Buddy (Will Ferrell Anchorman) isn't really an elf. He was raised by elves at the North Pole, but he is actually a human being. This is most evident by the difference in size between him and his colleagues, but also by his lack of speed when making toys.
When he figures out that he is a human, Santa tells him where his father lives - in a magical place called New York City.
So, after a long walk, he finds his way to New York in search of his father who, much to Buddy's dismay, is on the naughty list. His father, who doesn't actually know that he has a son is very mean - a total workaholic.
Whilst in New York, at Christmas time, he finds himself in a department store where, because he is dressed as an elf, he is mistaken for a worker and meets a girl (Zooey Deschanel, Yes Man).
This truly is a modern classic. I initially didn't go much on the film trailer, but really wish I had seen it right away. The film is witty, funny and charming. Fun for all the family and one that always fills me with Christmas Cheer.
Definitely one to watch and, preferably, one to own!
