Eddie Morra is a struggling writer with a terrible case of writer's block. His girlfriend has had enough and in desperation he takes an ill-advised chance on a clear pill he received from his ex-brother-in-law.

Suddenly he sees clearly. Everything becomes obvious and he writes the rest of his book miraculously overnight. Whatever this stuff is, he needs more of it and now.

But, when he goes to see his ex-brother-in-law the following day and finds him dead, he panicks - stashing the rest of the pills and hiding them from the police.

It's not long before he puts his new found talents to use with other areas of his life, including making money - which he now finds both easy and fun.

Unfortunately his rise to the top does not run smoothly, when a man who had lent him money finds himself addicted to the new pills - but uses his new found intellect to further his illegal activities.

This is a very clever film. Somewhat showing how power and indeed, intellect corrupt. Although the main character is clearly the good guy, it becomes obvious that he is able to rationalise his actions and, because he has the money, buy himself out of trouble.

A good film, but some of the effects are rather confusing and may become irritating after a while - especially the panoramic zoom thing that is used quite a lot in this film.

Definitely one to watch and possibly to own if it's cheap enough at some point.
