The latest X-Men film starts in much the same way as the original big screen adaption did. A young Magneto finds his mutant powers at a German concentration camp as his parents are cruelly taken from him. The commander tries to get him to use his powers to save his mother, but he is unable to and she dies.

Prof. X. has an entirely different upbringing in the United States in a large mansion house where he encounters a young Mystique has broken into his home to steal food. Far from throwing her out, they become good friends all the way through school and college.

By the 1960s, Magneto is close to finding his mother's killer whilst the Prof is helping the US Government to track down dangerous mutants.

It's not long before, Eric (Magneto) is invited to join with Charles (Prof X) as they search for other mutants. Eric reluctantly helps him, but their opinions on the future are widely different.

It's only after they are attacked by a mutant intent on causing World War 3, that they along with other recruits, agree to work alongside each other as the X-Men.

I'm not entirely sure whether this is a reboot of the X-Men franchise following mixed reviews on the others, or whether this is merely a prequel like X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Either way, this is a brilliant film in its own right.

Anyone who is a fan of the Marvel comicbook series will, I'm sure, not be disappointed by this film. But I also think that this film is one that people who have never seen the other films or seen the comics will enjoy.

This is probably one I'll be getting on DVD.
