There has been a fued going on between the blue Capulets and the red Montagues for so long that nobody can even remember what started it. All that they know is that they are in the right.

Gnomeo, is a blue gnome and regularly races lawn mowers against the reds. That is until due to their cheating, the lawn mower gets destroyed. So to fight back they sneak into the red garden and vandalise their wishing well.

Juliet, is a red gnome with a very protective father who insists that she should stay on her pedistal. However, she wants to prove herself by getting a rare orchid from the garden a few doors down. She sneaks out to get it and meets another gnome in disguise. She falls for him before realising that their love is doomed because he is a blue.

Despite everything, they continue to see each other in secret until the rivalry leads to a red gnome getting smashed.

Based on Shakespeare's classic, Romeo and Juliet, the film sticks closely to the plot. Of course, it's about gnomes and its animated so it's hardly going to win an oscar, but with a soundtrack of songs drawn mainly from Elton John's back catalogue and Shrek style innuendous jokes, this is one that the whole family can enjoy.

Definitely one to watch, people!
