It's your normal Dinsey tale really. A princess is born and somehow ingests a magic flower which gives her magical hair - hair which has the ability to make people younger. When she is still a baby she is kidnapped by a woman who had been using the flower, and could no longer do without it. She is then locked in a tower, for her protection she is told.
Some 16 years later, a young rapscallion accidentally finds the tower and hides inside. She manages to subdue him with her handy frying pan and ties him up with her now ridiculously long hair. Eventually they head out so that she can see the "lights" in the sky which appear coincidentally on each of her birthdays. Of course, the path does not run smoothly and hilarity ensues.
If you like Disney films then you'll love this because it has all the elements of all the other classics, loveable animal creatures, an evil character and of course the "wrong side of the tracks" hero and rather sheltered and ditsy princess. Of course, if you're someone who hates anything Disney or indeed animated - I don't need to tell you that this won't be for you.
In terms of originality, it's not really anything new but there's plenty of funny moments to keep the parents entertained - for the first watch anyway.
