Megamind (Will Ferrel, Anchorman) was sent to Earth as a baby shortly before his planet was destroyed. Unfortunately for him, another family on a neighbouring planet had the same idea.
Overshadowed as a child, he found that he was good at only one thing - causing trouble. Since his rival, Metroman, got all the credit - he chose his own path - the path of the villain.
Of course, he never actually won these battles before - until today that is. Initially really ecstatic at his victory he takes over the city, only to find himself bored. So he decides to produce a new rival for him to fight.
But as is always the case, his plan doesn't go right and his new hero becomes an even bigger villain than he himself.
This really is a fun and interesting movie. It coincidentally came out at the same kind of time as Despicable Me which made me worried that the would step on each others toes, but despite the similarities in the two films they really are good in their own ways.
Ferrell, brings his own unmistakable style to the role as a strangely nice evil character. His sidekick, played by Arrested Development's David Cross (who was also in Alvin and the Chipmunks) is also rather lovable - for an evil fish monster anyway.
Again, this is a great film for all the family and I'm sure it will soon grace our DVD shelf.
