The Greek Gods aren't exactly the nicest of creatures. Their existance as immortals is down to the fear or adoration of the human race. After a statue of Zeus is torn down he becomes angry and destroys them, and a local fishing boat caught up in his rage. The only survivor is Persious, the adopted son of the fisherman.
Understandably angry he vows to fight for humankind against the Gods. He comes accross a town where the people are openly disrespecting their God. Suddenly Hades, sent my Zeus appears and gives them a deadline in which to return to him, or he will release the Cragen.
Hades spots Perseus and reveals to him that he is a demi-God. Suddenly everyone looks to this outsider for help in their quest to find a weapon that could defeat the Cragen, but with Hades pulling out every trick he can to stop them and to usurp the power of Zeus, the odds are against him.
My main problem with this film is that if you've seen Percy Jackson and the Lightning thief, you already know the storyline - aside from the fact that this version is aimed at grown up men, not kids and isn't set in New York.
So that made is harder to take seriously. It's not a bad film in that the effects are fine, the acting is fine, but it somehow failed to hit the mark in the way that films like 300 did.
If you like action, then you'll probably enjoy this. If you like your greek mythology then you probably won't.
