On a tiny island a colony of Vikings find themselves in a constant battle fighting off hoardes of fearsome dragons. One boy thinks there might be a better way and devizes a machine to help them quickly and easily catch them. Unfortunately, and as is so often the case, the machine backfires and causes untold devastation.
The dragon he shoots down lands somewhere on the island, but nobody believes his story. How could that wimpy kid possibly have taken down a dragon? His father twists the arms of the leaders who allow him to be trained in fighting dragons, but at the same time he finds the dragon he shot down and quite by accident learns a few things about dragons.
These new tricks mean that instead of fighting the dragons he is able to subdue them - something that the village don't understand.
This is a really good kids film and it challenges us to look deeper at the situation we are faced with. Why is our enemy doing what they are doing and how can we help them to change and change ourselves in the process?
It isn't as funny as I'd hoped it would be, but it is definitely worth seeing. Kids will love this film and in classic Shrek style there are plenty of jokes in their for parents too.
One to see, people!
