When a supposed cure leads to most of the world's population becoming vampires, the world effectively becomes nocturnal but carries on as normal.
The only differences being, of course, that human blood is in high demand and yet humans themselves are becoming more and more rare. Hunters go out to catch humans to be taken to farms where they can be kept alive for their blood.
Ever wonder what happens to a vampire if he doesn't get blood? Well, apparently they become more and more savage, as well as mutate horribly.
Ethan Hawke's character reluctantly became a vampire but the thought of drinking human blood is still monsterous to him. So he spends his time searching for an antidote or an alternative to blood. That is until a group of humans who have slipped the net come to him asking for help.
This film is different from other vampire movies in that its like a follow up to your normal vampire film. Vampires are already everywhere and humanity are the rare ones. It's an interesting film and one I'd recommend seeing.
Its rather bloody at times, but thats more or less a given for this kind of film. One of the best vampire films I've seen. Similar in feel to films like 'Children of Men'
