Mr Fox is a fantastic chicken thief, but when his wife finds out she's pregnant, he opts for a much safer profession writing a column in the local paper. 12 fox years later, he's starting to get a bit bored working from behind a desk. It's time to mix things up a bit.
So he buys a new house, in a tree near three of the biggest farms belonging to the horrible Boggis, Bunce and Bean. One at a time, he breaks in and steals their prize produce and they do not react well. Teaming up, they decide to kill Mr Fox, but soon things get all out of control.
This film is based on the classic Roald Dahl book of the same name, and although they have used a lot of the same story, they have obviously extended and americanized it. The other notable thing is that they have used stop-go animation of models through out, which is initially off putting but in many ways actually makes it stand out from other films around at the moment which rely on CG a bit too much.
If you're a fan of the book, then I think you'll enjoy it but I think people unfamiliar with the story will enjoy it more, since a fair few things have changed. I don't say it often, but in this case, the book is better.
