It's a strange concept but one with a high potential for being a good action movie. Based upon novels set in the late 19th century, a government official known as "M" (Very James Bondesque, I know) recruits the people he deems to be the best in the world. Sure, most of them have troubled pasts or are actually half monster but they want to redeem themselves. So the league is constructed, such characters as "an invisible man", "Dr Jekyl/ Hyde", "a Vampire lady", "an immortal", "captain Nemo" (no thats not the fish), "Jack Sawyer" (mainly to appeal to the American audience) and of course a hunter played by Bond Veteran Sean Connery. They are recruited to stop a mad man known only as the phantom from causing a first ever world war. However, things are not as they seem.

Though there are large amounts of this film I really enjoyed, some of the effects especially those involved in the creation of Dr Hyde, seem laughable. With so many characters all being introduced in such a short period of time it leaves very little room for plot development, though it is important to point out that there is one, even if it is played down. Plenty of action and even a few twists make this film one to be viewed but compared to the likes of X men and other such films it doesn't quite make it. See it if you liked Tomb Raider.
