Adam Sandler (50 First Dates,The Wedding Singer) plays a comedian who is diagnosed with a rare disease. For some reason he hires a young up and coming comedian to write some of his jokes and act as his personal assistant.
Over the course of the film the two become friends, though Sandler's behaviour becomes more and more erational, eventually convincing an old girlfriend to leave her husband.
This isn't a laugh out loud comedy, it's a modern comedy in that the comedy itself is more in the situation or during the stand-up moments.
It's a slow paced film and it is hard to know where the film is going. Even at the end the film doesn't reach a satisfactuary conclusion, but in many ways this is the more likely way it should end - but does that make a good film?
If you like films like 'Smart People' and TV shows like 'The Office', you might enjoy this film more than I did. I, however, won't be buying the DVD.
