An experimental technology has led to an unexpected breakthrough. A simple technology allows people to communicate with animals and after a bit of training they are ready to work in the field as spies.

With the government threatening to pull their funding, three guinea pigs, a mole and a fly head into the headquarters of an excentric billionaire (Bill Nighy) to uncover his plans for world domination. Despite successfully infiltrating the base and retrieving the data, when they unveil their findings, there is nothing to see.

So the government shut them down and the pets end up in the worst place imaginable - a pet shop.

The first thing that I didn't expect was that this is largely live action. All the human characters and locations are real, or at least as real as in any film these days. The second thing is that the CG on these animals is actually quite realistic. Granted they're wearing gadgets, walking upright and talking but you know what I mean.

The storyline is a very simple one, but then it is a kids film - so what were you expecting? The nice thing is that there are twists and quite a bit of action. However, there isnt as much comedy as I would have liked.

All things considered, its not a bad film and one I'm glad I watched.
