Manny, Diego and Sid started their new herd a few thousand years ago during the Ice Age when they returned a young baby human to his people.
Then a few years later, facing a meltdown the herd met another Mammoth who thought she was a possum and her brothers, who were actually possums.
Now she's highly pregnant and both Sid and Diego are feeling a bit left out. Diego is about to leave and Sid tries to find his own family. So when he finds three dinosaur eggs beneath a crack in the ice he sees it as his responsibility to adopt them - their mother disagrees and takes them all back to her nest.
So the gang have to rescue him and navigate a forgotten ecosystem trapped below the ice with Buck (Simon "Shaun of the Dead" Pegg) as their guide.
Whereas some of the other Ice Age films were a bit slow, there is a lot going on in this one. With plenty of jokes, fun new characters and a love interest for the nut obsessed Scrat, this is definitely one to see.
We saw this in 3D, which is cool but not necessarily needed for this film. The problem is that after a while the 3D effects become taken for granted. In other words, they haven't done anything specifically for 3D so I wouldn't necessarily recommend that.
Definitely worth seeing though and in my own humble opinion, better than its predecessors which I have in my DVD collection at home.
