At around the same time the Doc and Martie McFly decided to go back to the Future, a rather nasty cyborg, who later became the Governor of California, decided to come back in time to wipe out a man named John Connor before he was concieved. Ironically though, had they not done so, his father (a man named Cael Rees) would never have come back and met his mother.
A few years later, a second Terminator cyborg came back and tried to kill the now teenaged John Connor, with little success.
Only half convinced that his mother's actions had prevented the impending holocaust, John Connor decides that its best if he lays low for a while and stays off the radar - when a female terminator comes back and tries to eliminate a whole bunch of other people, including his future wife.
But when they accept help from another guy who looks like a certain Californian Political Leader, they realise that the war has finally arrived.
So here we join them, deep in battle with the machines who, it seems, are more devious than expected. Gone are the rubber-faced Terminators, but the new liquidizing Terminators are still on the drawing boards.
When a long dead ex-con wakes up in a lab, not only does he not know about the holocaust, but he also doesn't know what side he's on.
This is a well written film, with some kick butt action and plenty of special effects. A lot of people who were disappointed by Terminator 3 (though I wasn't one of them) will be a lot happier with this one.
Although the plot isn't very complicated, somehow that doesn't really matter here. Batman did some of his deep throat voice, which was a bit wierd - but I guess that a warzone doesn't do much good for your throat.
All in all, this is a good action film. Best seen in the cinema, but will look really good in HD and with surround sound. One day maybe...
