In Night at the Museum (2006), Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) discovered that at night the exhibits at the museum he worked at came to life. The reason being a cursed tablet that is on display.
Now a few years on, he has become surprisingly successful by inventing things. When he goes back to the museum, he is told that all the exhibits are being moved to the Central Archives at the Smithsonian in Washington DC.
Unfortunately there is nothing he can do, but when he learns that the tablet has also been moved and that a long dead Mummy has been resurrected with the aim of enslaving the Earth with an army from the underworld - he has to do something.
So, once again an all star cast of exhibits battle to save the World. Joined by the beautiful Amy Adams (Enchanted,Talladega Nights) as Amilia Earheart and a load of bobble-head Einstein dolls.
This film is really funny, though obviously with so many characters, old and new, a lot of them don't get a lot of focus. However, the main baddie played by The Simpsons' Hank Azaria is hilarious, and Earheart is certainly given enough airtime. General Custer is also a good new character - but the funniest bit is "the thinker" statue coming on to a female statue. The seraphim are quite cool too.
It's a good film, with a good plot and what really makes it stand out for me is that I have actually been to a lot of the places featured. So, I'd highly recommend this and now I think of it, I'll probably get it on DVD!
