Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is a taxi driver in Las Vegas but with a dark past. After turning down a job with some shady looking characters a new fare arrives in his taxi very suddenly in the form of two kids.
The pay him a large sum of money in cash to take them "that way". He is dubious but agrees, after all he needs the money and they're just kids - but when they ask to be dropped off in a deserted cabin in the middle of nowhere, he has to make sure they're ok and winds up getting shot at, whilst driving his car the wrong way through a train tunnel.
Apparently this is a remake, but since I've never heard of the original, it might as well not be. It is very much a family friendly disney film - but the days of disney films being slow are gone. Pirates changed that forever. This film has some pretty good car chases and general action that would satisfy any action buff.
That said, the storyline and plot twists are quite predictable, right down to the introduction of the dog as a character. Still, if you want to take your kids to a film this is probably one you'll be able to bear - the first time, at least.
