Susan (Reese Wetherspoon) is looking forward to her big day. She's marrying the local weatherman and can't wait to be enjoying their honeymoon in Paris. That is until she's hit by a meteorite. Amazingly she survives, but when she grows to an gigantic size during the ceremony she starts to wish that she hadn't.

Captured by the government, she is introduced to a few other monsters like B.O.B. (Seth Rogan) a gelatinous blob with conciousness who likes to eat things. Dr Cockroach (Hugh Laurie), a mad scientist who crossed his own DNA with that of a cockroach. Link, aka The Missing Link (Gob from Arrested Development) and Insectosaurus - a giant bug.

However, when an alien comes to Earth looking for a mysterious chemical that he needs to recreate his own race, the government strike a deal which guarantees them their freedom, if they can save them.

Though a lot of the jokes were in the longer of the trailers, the film still has enough new material to make it worth a watch. It has some of the same kind of humour that made the original Shrek so great.

This is one where you are bound to have missed a lot of the gags the first time around and will therefore need to watch again. This will be on my list for Christmas, I expect.
