Adam Sandler (50 First Dates, The Wedding Singer) is the heir to a hotel in LA thanks to a promise made to his father when he was younger. The current owner, who runs a large chain of hotels, seems to have forgotten about this and promises the hotel to the suck-up boyfriend of his daughter.
When his sister (Courtney Cox) has to go out of town because the local school that she runs is being closed down, she asks him to look after the kids - to take the night shift anyway.
So he does and since she doesn't believe in television or junk food, he has to come up with bedtime stories to keep them entertained - like his dad had done for him. However, when aspects of the story he had told them the previous night start coming true, he tries to come up with a way to use it to his advantage.
This film is a fun and humourous family comedy BUT did not feel watered down unlike films like Nacho Libre. If you're looking for one to take the kids to then this is definitely one I'd recommend because, like Shrek, it has jokes for the adults as well as having stuff for the kids.
I'd recommend this one and it's one that may well end up on my dvd shelf.
