Max Payne is obsessed with finding the killers of his wife and child. His investigation, though, is not getting far and everyone thinks he is odd.
One day, after meeting with his informant a girl ends up ripped to pieces and because she had stolen his wallet, he is implicated. However, the circumstances are less than normal, especially when his ex-partner also ends up dead shortly before he is able to meet up with him.
This film is another of those computer game adaptations, not unlike Resident Evil or its sequels. The game apparently uses Bullet Time, not unlike that used in the film The Matrix but it also has lots of scenes of demons flying about and ash falling down.
The badies in the film make an experimental drug that give the user a lot of confidence and strength but as a side affect make them see the world as if it were over-run by demons. It's not clear whether the world that they are seeing is real or just their imagination, although the way the girl is killed certainly suggests they are.
In terms of the film, it wasn't anything special but wasn't a complete waste of time either. Jackie, from That 70s Show, played the main lead female. The lead is played by Matt Damon (Jason Bourne) but this isn't one of his better films.
