Fresh from catching the man who was blackmailing his beloved Vesper, Bond races to a secret base with his captive, but when they question him it turns out that the plot goes far deeper than they thought.

As Bond follows a lead, he meets a new woman, a woman seeking revenge on the man who killed her family and raped her mother - the would be President of Paraguay. The trail leads Bond to an environmentalist, but is this do-gooder as he seems.

With the Americans ignoring him completely, the British Government starts to see Bond's actions as those of a man looking for revenge, especially when Bond evades custody to continue the case.

With action galore and a gritty storyline not unlike that of Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace is an adrenaline pumping sequel and sees Daniel Craig, once again making the role his own.

But as action-packed as it was, the hype from the last film raised my expectations too highly. The film started well, raising the concept of an organisation that had infiltrated every level of society including MI6. However, the film seemed to go off on a tangent and never quite reached a satisfying conclusion. The acting by the lesser English Bond girl was less than brilliant though, she is certainly a good looking actress.

Thankfully, like Casino Royale this film avoided a lot of the Bond cliches - the gadgets, Q, the "Bond, James Bond" line etc... which gives it more credibility. Also the plot is far more down to Earth than the over the top storylines from the older films.

In many ways this feels like the middle part of a trilogy, and not like a self contained film like the older Bond films like Die Another Day or The World is not Enough. So in conclusion, I expect that the next Bond film will shed light on this one and make this more significant.

This was a great film and will be one I see again, possibly even in the cinema.
