Horton (Jim Carey - Bruce Almighty)is an elephant and one day while teaching a group of young animals in the forest, he hears what sounds like a scream from a tiny speck that floats past his enormous ears. Since he cares for all living things, he runs after it and catches it on the top of a daisy.
Horton is, of course, right. Living on the speck are a whole civilisation of people called "The Whos". The mayor of Whoville (Steve Carrell - Evan Almighty) is busy looking after his people when, thanks to his drainpipe, he hears a voice talking to him that tells him that his entire world is on a speck which unsettles him a bit.
The rest of the film is Horton's journey to put the speck somewhere safe and save their world whilst from both sides people think they are crazy. It's a nice story, with relatively deep concepts for a children's film. What if our world is just a speck on someone else's flower?
This film will be a good one to see with your kids, if you have them, if not then you may need to borrow someone else's - it's best to ask their parents first though
