As the title may have suggested to you, this is a wierd film. The concept is very basic, what if you could erase bad memories, what if you had such a bad break up with someone that you wanted to forget that they ever existed.

This film shows us exactly what happens and how it is done. The film begins with what looks like a beautiful new romance between Jim Carey's character "Joel" and "Clementine" (Kate Winslet), a girl he met in a chance encounter on the beach.

Next thing we know is that she has undergone surgery to have him completely removed from his memory. All begins to make sense after a while. However I am not about to spoil the story for you.

Jim plays the part very well, showing that he can play more serious roles if he needs to, though at times his usual self almost surfaces. Kirsten Dunst plays the nurse and for a while it doesn't look like she's more than an extra, she comes into her own and plays a major role later on.

But Elijah, Frodo, Wood's role is small and may have been better played by Seth Green in my own opinion, not to say he didn't play it ably. All in all, not your best ever film, some novel new ideas and some comical effects but is best viewed when you can really contemplate the story and work out just what is going on. You may be tempted to walk out early on but rest assured it does get better. On a par with "Vanilla Sky", similar but better than "Being John Malcovich".
