Jason Bourne woke up on a fishing boat 3 years ago with no memory and 3 bullets in his back. This kicked off a mission to find his identity and led to him falling for a girl he met while on the run from people who seemed intent on killing him.
It turned out that he was a malfunctioning secret US weapon, but when they killed his girlfriend he decided to show them how much more superior he was and got revenge on those who were responsible (In the Bourne Supremecy) and shutting down Treadstone - the project that he had worked for.
Now a new replacement project has taken its place and he is public enemy number one. When a journalist finds out something about the new project and about Bourne, he has to meet him and find out what he knows. Blackfriar, the new agency, tries to beat him to it - but proving how he still has it, he beats them at their own game and gets to him first.
I don't want to give away too much, that and the storyline is actually quite long to explain - but good viewing. This isn't your OTT Die Hard 4 style action movie - This is far closer to your West Wing intellectual action flick. At times there is far too much going on - at other times you could get bored.
I like it because it is clever and action packed. In some films when a police car hits a mailbox it explodes as if filled with nitroglycerine, in Bourne - the car is dented and the driver can't get out or just looks annoyed.
Having said that, there are one or two explosions for any of you adrenaline junkies and the action chases are fast paced and long. I enoyed it and will consider buying it. Of all the trilogy third parts that have emerged this summer this was probably the best and most intellectual.
