Resident Evil is a very popular zombie computer game series. Over the past 5-6 years they have produced a number of relatively successful film adaptions. The original was probably the best of the ones done so far, but the sequel, which was released a few years now was average at best. Not awful, but also not very memorable.

So it was with this in mind I walked into the third installment. Confusingly this film starts in the same way that the first one does. We join the main character waking up in the shower, finding a dress, walking through the hall and then suddenly finding herself in the chamber with all the lasers.

Up until that point, I seriously thought that they must have accidentally put the original in. The laser scene, though came much later, and the hospital which followed was from no 2.

Turns out it was part of a cloning experiment and that this version was about to fail it - like many had before.

Meanwhile, the virus has spread worldwide. Only a handful of survivors have made it by keeping on the move, but when fuel runs low they are forced to stop pilaging small gas stops and head instead for a big city.

Unfortunately though, the mad scientist who created the virus and whom is working on the cure has worked out where she is and has sent some new - slightly more intelligent and aggresive zombies her way - to make sure she is the real 'project alpha'.

Accepting it for what it is, a zombie flick, and therefore not subject to the usual film standards it was alright. Not all that original and relying on what were probably the more popular elements of the earlier films, only with less twists this film was rather average.

More annoying though was the really rather simple death of the supposedly invincible baddie. If you're looking to get scared, you'll probably jump when some lights go zapp or when a lamp rolls around, but not so much because of the monster(s).

If you're bored, there's nothing wrong with this per se, but there's nothing all that right with it either.
