We took a chance with this one. We wanted to see a comedy at the cinema and this one looked to be the best of those available - i.e. The one that people hadn't told me to avoid. What put us off was the 'Jessica Simpson' in the trailor, but we took a shot at it anyway.
The main guy works as a 'box boy' at a local supermarket in the states. It's a job with minimal consequence if things went wrong and a job that allows him to relax and enjoy life. Until a new cashier arrives and his colleague, a right jerk, swoops in to woo her. His colleague is the running Employee of the Month and it turns out that this new girl really likes people who are. The race is on to achieve the goal and it's gonna take everything he has!
It seemed quite clear that the lead role was written for Ryan Reynolds (Just Friends) and the lead 'badie' would have fit Ben Stiller (Dodgeball) well. However, the cast of largely unknown actors performed their parts well and let me concentrate more on the characters than I would have anyway.
Jessica Simpson played her part well enough, but was obviously chosen more because of her fame and good looks than her acting ability - though she was not bad I might add, also proving that she has a sense of humour.
It was good fun and largely family viewing, with just a few minor jokes obviously raising the rating up as high as a 12a. An amusing comedy all things considered and definitely worth seeing if you want a laugh.
