Ben Stiller is a talented actor but sometimes chooses the wrong scripts. (Starsky & Hutch) for example was rubbish while (Dodgeball) was a really good comedy. Night at the Museum was a good choice.
Larry needs a job but his career history is about as rocky as the Himalayas. In his desperation he accepts a job at the Museum. Due to falling visitor numbers the management (Ricky Gervais) is downsizing the aged night staff. Larry (Ben Stiller) is their replacement. Dick Van Dyke (one of the old guards) takes it ominously well.
Stiller gets rather scared though when during his first shift he gets attacked by the skeleton of a T-Rex, weed on by a stuffed monkey and attacked by Attilla the Hun. The Museum literally comes to life at night.
The film is funny, clever and fun for any family audience. Clearly intended to be a good family film - far from the gross out comedy that Stiller is almost synonimous with (Theres something about Mary, Meet the Fockers).
The action was fun, if not a little childish and the array of famous actors in this was really quite long. If you want a good night out with the kids, include this in your plans.
