From the creators of Wallace & Gromit, Shrek and Chicken Run comes what should become a truly classic movie experience.

Roddy (voiced apparently by Hugh Jackman, X-Men)is a pet rat who lives in upper class Kensington in London. His owners go away for the weekend and he lives it large around his home until he gets an unwanted squatter (Shane Richey) who flushes poor Roddy down the toilet.

He finds himself in Ratropolis, a small scale version of London underground in the sewers inhabited entirely by rats, frogs and slugs. He needs to get to the surface so he visits Rita (Kate Winslet) who should be able to help, only she's wanted by the local mob boss (Ian McKellan) for her ruby.

It's your classic story where the upper class type comes crashing down to earth and realises how lonely he is up top despite his riches. However, Aardman and Dreamworks have an unbeatable skill for quick fire humour. I don't know why they didn't team up sooner. It truly is a laugh a minute affair.

My favourite characters are the hapless goon, Whitey (apparently voiced by Bill Nighy) and the singing slugs. The slugs, by the way, are absolutely hillarious! They achieve the comic tunes that the Umpa Lumpas in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory probably meant to.

Enough talk though, this is a brilliantly funny film that seriously rivals Over the Hedge as this years best animated comedy. See this!!!
