We went in blind with this one. We'd not heard anything about it and I now know why. While searching for photos for this film I came accross more than a few bad reviews for it - could have been enough to steer people away...
However, we loved it. Simon Pegg (Spaced,Shaun of the Dead) stars alongside David Schwimmer (Friends, Madagascar) as two desperate call centre workers. Pegg's character, Gus, convinces the usually law abiding Charlie to be his alibi while he blackmails a clergyman that they know visits porn sites.
"Everything will be fine as long as we stick to the plan"
Of course, the plan goes more than a little awry when Charlie accidentally puts what he believes is the corpse of the vicar in the sceptic tank. The plot thickens and the situation becomes somewhat rediculous over a short period of time.
This is definitely a dark comedy, with so much death in it. However, we found it really funny at times because we really weren't sure where it was going in the end. Schwimmer and Pegg played their parts well, as did the rest of the cast. I was captivated by the twists and turns of the storyline which avoided most of the more obvious twists.
The fact that this film was panned by the critics shows how little the critics know and reminds me why I set up this movies section in the first place. See this if you get the chance.
