Severance claims to be to teen slashers, what Shaun of the Dead was to zombie movies but I was bitterly disappointed.
The movie begins showing a couple of Swedish women falling into a pit and partially stripping to get out. Another man gets gutted to an oddly churpy song.
Suddenly we join a group of business people who work for a defence company. They have a slight disagreement with the driver (though we don't hear or understand what he says) and he abandons them in the middle of nowhere.
Following a walk, they find a lodge - though its not quite what they were expecting. Following some shocks in the night they decide to try and get help to leave this place, when they suddenly find the bus driver's body lying gutted in a river.
The gore is sudden and drawn out and takes up the bulk of the remainder of the film. Despite some comic relief including the accidental destruction of an airliner, and the proof that you do live long enough after decapitation to see your body die - the film is sadly lacking.
Advertised as a comedy I expected more, more along the lines of Shaun of the Dead. Sue found some of the scenes so bad she wanted to leave. I have to agree with her, though it was quite funny it pushed the boundaries too far. Some scenes were just plain sick.
