I make no secret that Owen Wilson is not exactly my favourite comic actor but I find myself once again watching and enjoying a movie with him in.
Dupree's best friend is getting married. The last of his single friends is gone leaving him alone. After the honeymoon, his best friend returns home to learn that he has lost his home, his job and his car. Being a good friend he offers to let him stay while he finds his feet.
When Dupree's personal habits start to cause problems, he and his new wife start to have second thoughts. It's a simple enough premise but throw in a father-in-law who seems to hate him and the over the top disasters that result from the most innocent (and not so innocent) of events, you get a laugh out loud comedy.
Owen Wilson plays his usual character but perhaps the role was written with him in mind because it works. He gets some fun scenes including a chase round the office building. It was a very funny scene.
You, me and Dupree will never win the Comedy of the Year award but it is worth a watch if you don't need crude jokes to satisfy.
