Jennifer Aniston (Bruce Almighty) and Vince Vaugn (Dodgeball) star in this romantic comedy about a break-up.
We start with a quick summary of how they came to be together, before seeing a quick montage of their relationship through photographs. We meet them in their quaint apartment preparing for a dinner party.
True to form, the smallest things erupt and cause a massive argument, bringing to the surface deeply hidden wounds. In a moment of anger Aniston's character decides that it is not working and that this is the end.
Both being stubborn, neither wants to move out of the apartment. He sets up camp in the living room and they proceed to battle with one another in what are often humourous ways.
The film itself is far more serious than it would first have appeared. It does have its light hearted moments, but like the Break Up scenes in Friends, it is hard to not play some parts seriously. The serious scenes were done very well and were broken up well with lighter moments.
This is the most serious role I have ever seen Vince Vaughn in and he shows another side to his acting talents. If you are after an American Pie or Scary Movie then keep on walking. This film shows the other side of relationships and also that they don't always end with a happy ever after.
