I was confused as to what this film was supposed to be. I thought that it was going to be a light hearted horror spoof, not unlike "Eight Legged Freaks" or "Shaun of the Dead".
It wasn't a totally serious film though either, had it been trying to be such it would have been absolute tripe. It, rather deliberately fell into all the B horror movie cliches and did provide some humerous moments, if only because the concepts were so bizarre.
As is customary, a meteorite falls to earth and a squlechy squirmy slug like thing emerges. It attacks a local couple who are trying to get some nookie. He gets shot with a dart from it and starts behaving rather oddly.
Its a few days before the extent of the problem becomes apparent to his wife, who just thought he'd become slightly more romantic and then having a reaction to a bee sting. It takes an attempt on her life to convince her that he is not the man he once was. To be honest the tentacles pertruding from his stomach should have been a give away.
Its an interesting film, perhaps spoiled for me because I was hoping for a comedy. It doesn't break any new ground nor approach the genre in a new way, but it is thankfully less harsh than recent films like The Hills Have Eyes. A good effort but nothing all that special.
