Springfield Lake is so polluted that after the rock band Green Day play a gig on the lake, their stage dissolves. Lisa Simpson takes up the cause and tries to get the town's attention - only to meet the boy of her dreams, campaigning for the same thing.
Homer, meanwhile is preoccupied daring Bart to do outrageous pranks but after he sells out Bart to the police when a prank goes wrong, poor Bart starts to feel more at home with Ned Flanders.
Following a prophetic incident in the church that is ignored by everyone else, Marge becomes worried about something big and terrible happening to Springfield. But what could go wrong? Homer gets a pet pig and calls him Spider-Pig but after he dumps all the pig's waste in Springfield lake, the government put an emergency plan into action to quarantine the town.
The long awaited Simpson's movie is finally upon us and I, for one, was happily surprised by the level of humour and coherent storyline throughout. More than a few times in the movie I was hysterical with laughter - like in the hayday of the tv series. It seemed that the writers had saved enough gems for the film to pull it off brilliantly.
A thoroughly excellent film that I will be getting when it comes out on DVD.
