Colin Farrell (Phone Booth) and Jamie Foxx (Collateral) are back in this film adaption of the 1980s cult tv series known for its slick style and cheesy 80s cliches.
Braught bang up to date and directed by Collateral's Director it is now a high octane action movie set in the gritty world of drug trafficking and organised crime. Anyone hoping for a light hearted film verion (not unlike Charlies Angels) will be sadly mistaken.
We join the cops in a club in down town Miami when one of them gets a call from a squealer racing out of town for his dear life. When they catch up with him he reveals that somehow the dealers he had been trying to catch were on to him. Sure enough the agents working his case end up dead, as does he.
Searching for the mole that lead to the security breach, our cops need to go deep undercover leading to difficult decisions in situations where the lines have become blurred.
I must admit that I think this film would have: a) worked better set in the 80s and b) been better cheesy. What we have here is another run of the mill cops-drug chase movie not unlike Bad Boys. Only unlike Bad boys we don't get the comic relief elements. It could have been a lot worse but it also could have been far better.
