From the director's of the incredibly popular "Matrix" movies comes this dark prediction of our futureif the Conservatives win the election!

The world has been devastated by a virus which has left the once super-power America in ruins. Due to an outbreak in the UK prior to the world crisis the UK survived and it's highly religious government assures its safety. But at what cost? The loss of personal freedom and of religion. The strict regime locks up anyone who opposes them and following suit of the Nazi's imprisons and kills homosexuals and anyone found in possession of a Koran. It is so strict that much art and music is also prohibited.

V appears on Bonfire Night and blows up the Old Bailey in London. Not wanting to seem out of control the government run tv station (BTV - possibly a merger of ITV and BBC) claims it was scheduled for demolition.

Evie played by Natalie Portman, who is rescued from some corrupt Fingermen (basically the enforcers of the curfew) becomes a witness to V's acts of defiance. When he takes over the TV station to broadcast his message to the people, Evie comes to his rescue. She ends up in his home, unable to leave because of what they'd now do to her as an accomplice.

It was a clever and well thought out film premise and one I was glad to see. There are moments that I thought were over the top, some moments that were too bloody and some things that were just plain wrong.

The state is shown as a deeply religious one, and associated with the Church of England in one scene. The bishop, states that he has just one remaining vice, but it is a major one. Paedophilia. Before V has him killed, he sends Evie to him, dressed as a young girl and he makes advances at her.

The "religious" government is painted as being evil by the movie, and in this case it certainly is. Though some may object to this movie as being anti-Christian, I must beg to differ. Although the government are religious, the religion they depict is not Christianity even if it is supposed to be.

Any Christians that are depicted are hypocritical, acting completely at odds to the faith they supposedly have. If anything this film reminds us that it is important to practice what you preach and to remember the key Christian teachings: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart ... and Love your neighbour as yourself". Something that neither the terrorist (and he is a terrorist) V, nor the government ever show.
