I was intreaged by this movie after I heard Jonathan Ross' review on Film 2005. He said it was a good film which took a strange tiwst at the end. I was interested to know what he meant by that so I saw the movie.
Jodie Foster plays a woman who has just been widowed. Her husband fell from a roof near their home and she is flying home with her 6 year old daughter. Obviously still greaving for her loss she is quite protective of her daughter.
Aboard the plane they lie down and she falls asleep. When she wakes up her daughter is gone so she strolls around the large plane to find her. Eventually the whole staff are helping her but when it comes to light that nobody has seen her daughter aboard the plane, her baggage is missing and there is no boarding pass it becomes unclear whether the girl ever was on the plane.
Foster becomes more and more worried as time goes on. In fact you do begin to seriously question whether she was ever there in the first place. The story takes an odd twist later on but I won't spoil that for you, though it does feel somewhat out of place with the rest of the story.
If you are after an action packed movie then this won't be for you with most all of the action contained to the aeroplane itself. One interesting thing though is her instinctive prejudice in blaming the Asian guys aboard the plane, stating that she doesn't care if she isnt being PC, she just cares about her daughter.
