Coogan is brilliant as straight laced crackpot inventor Phylias Fogg who sets out to prove that it is indeed possibly to circumnavigate the globe in 80 days on a wager. Supported by action superstar Jackie Chan playing 'passporte', the robber of the bank of England for the sake of saving his village and also french newbie Cecile de France as Monique. With no shortage of cameos by superstars like John Cleese, Arnie, Owen Wilson, Kathy Bates, Jim Broadbent, Richard Branson and even Johnny Knoxville, the film is obviously not short on cash. What I was suprised about most was the accuracy to which some of the characters were braught to life. My only real experience of the story is the cartoon series yet some of the characters were immediately identifiable. Filled with Coogan brand comedy, Jackie Chan Action and the storyline of a good family film this film should have something for everyone young or old. Never slow, nor needlessly repetative the film kept me interested throughout. Some parts of the story somewhat "out there" but it was just part of the fun. Despite some bad press I would recommend this one highly...
