Hal (Jack Black) is a nice warm hearted man, but he is caught up with people’s appearances too much and will only date women who look like super models and actresses. When he gets trapped in a lift with a famous public speaker he suddenly finds that all the women that he wants to date want to date him, but his friend thinks he’s mad and eventually points out to him that all the women he is dating are less than his normal standards.

When he loses his powers of seeing inner beauty he sees how shallow he really is and avoids his new girlfriend (Gwyneth Paltrow), believing that he wont ever want to see her again if he sees the true her.

Will Hal overcome his shallowness? You know that he will but watch the film because it is not only a funny film but it shows you how shallow you might be.
