Keanu Reeves (The Matrix) is John Constantine in this deeply religious comic book adaptation. Constantine was "blessed" with being able to see things that other humans just cannot see. Evil, Scary things as well as Angels. Since he can see them, they can also see him. Condemned to Hell for the heinous sin of suicide as a child, but resurrected by an ambulance crew shortly later.
Since then he has been used to keep the 'half breeds' (Angels / Demons) in check, but can never hope to see heaven himself ...
This is a religious movie, but not a Christian one, from what I understand of Christianity. Although it touches upon aspects of faith, salvation and spiritual battles it misses some points and over emphasises others. Some devout Christians may find this film blasphemous.
As films go, it's no that special. The special effects are cool. Rachel Weiss (The Mummy) adopts a convincing American accent which almost makes you forget she was ever 'Evelyn' in The Mummy at all. Keanu is not Neo and is very negative about his life but fits the part well as far as I'm concerned. All in all, nothing special in my opinion, but no doubt fans of the comic will enjoy the film.
