The Bauedelaire children quickly become the Bauedelaire orphans when a mysterious fire burns down their house killing their parents. Their closest living relative, a Count Olaf (Jim Carey), becomes their legal guardian but he seems to be more interested in their inheritance than looking after the children.
As a series of unlikely and unfortunate events begin to unravel it becomes obvious that some kind of conspiracy is afoot. Narrated by 'Lemony Snicket' who sometimes apologises for not granting us a happier tale or stops at certain key points to fix the typewriter, or tell us that if we want to see a film about a little elf then we should go to screen 2.
My favourite thing about the film was the youngest child Sunny, she speaks in ga's and goo's except for the odd 'what?' or 'huh' but her non vocal true meaning is displayed in sub titles.
It is a very well written, fun and funny film which anyone young or young at heart will enjoy.
