Sunrise Sands™ is the multi-award winning series by the previously unknown British writer David Burton. The soap, based upon the mediocre movie of the same name, follows the lives of the inhabitants of the sleepy village of Sunrise Sands on the USA’s gold coast.
It was originally broadcast in America in 1998 when many of the other soaps were on a sudden down turn in viewing figures. The good timing meant that it quickly picked up a lot of die hard fans who loved it’s unusual plot twists and extreme storylines.
After less than a year it’s actors had become household names across the USA and many of them have since gone on to star in big screen ventures which have been successful in varying degrees.
So what made the show stick out from all the other US soaps. Perhaps it was the fact that it doesn’t take itself that seriously.
